ST. MAARTEN GOLF ASSOCIATION

Last Saturday more than 30 motivated golfers split up in 10 teams and headed out to Mullet Bay Golf Course to compete in the three person step away scramble.

In this format the player whose ball is chosen to continue with, steps away while the other two team members take a shot to further the ball towards and eventually in the hole.

 

Following a short briefing just before 8AM on the rules specific to this tournament the teams started at the hole assigned to them to tee off simultaneously following the single burst from a mist horn.

 

At the end of the morning when the dust settled and the carts had returned to the Golf Pro Shop, one and all enjoyed themselves and feasted on beverages and snacks, during which time, the winners were announced.

 

First prize was won by the team comprised of Thomas Zorn, Maxwell Thomas and Tony Burn with a net score of 65. The runners up missed winning the tournament by two strokes, the team of  Jan Peter Holtland, Keith Graham and birthday boy Andy Holmes scored 67 net. Third place was close as well with a net score of 69 net the team of Thomas Proust, Chim Cohen and Max Bribac were quite pleased with this result as well.

 

Everyone really enjoyed this interesting format of playing team golf.
