3rd Annual Steve Mix Memorial Tournament

The team of Jan Peter Holtland, Andy Holmes and Keith Graham took top honors during the third annual Steve Mix Memorial golf tournament at the Mullet Bay Golf Course. This event organized by the St. Maarten Golf Association SMGA attracted

12 teams, each with 3 golfers to the course.

The St. Maarten Golf Association hosted the event to honor the memory of Steve Mix, a long-time avid resident golfer. The
teams fought a very close and competitive battle as evidenced by the fact that there was only an 11-stroke difference between the winners and the team that came in last.

The eventual winners shot a stunning 65 stroke net score. Runner up was the team comprised of Buzz Adamski, Tini Tinitali and Geoff Heilman at one stroke higher. Similarly, third place was taken by Marie and Chris Gibbons and James Park, who also came in with the same 66 net score, but with an even lower average handicap for their team.

In a nod to Steve Mix's special playing style which he would sometimes employ whilst playing golf,  all contestants had to play their last hole barefoot while putting on the green with their drivers.

Steve who was also a past president of the SMGA was a great person. An asset to St. Maarten golf and to St. Maarten in general, he is remembered fondly by all those who knew him.
